FAQ

What is an agent?

An agent is the person who liaises to find and negotiate performing work for you. Without an agent it can be very difficult to find work, since casting directors and producers usually make their needs known through a network of agents.

What sort of work can I get?

NDS has represented talent for all kinds of jobs, including street performances, television commercials, short films and corporate videos, presenters for television series and films, models and promotions.

Can I have more than one agent?

Yes. However you need to consider the material you sign with your agent very carefully as you could find that you have actually signed a management agreement and in this case you may then be contracted to that agency for a particular period of time. Another problem with having more than one agent can occur if they both send you for the same job you may be liable for multiple commissions.

An agent is like a partner and it is usually best to find one agent you are happy with and work together to achieve the best possible result for you.

How does it all work?

Casting directors both search our database and select the talent they would like to audition for their role or directly e-mail casting briefs to us and we then submit recommendations to them. If your experience and particularly your look fit the brief they are trying to fill you will be selected for an audition. The casting director notifies us as the agent that they would like to offer you an audition and a time is arranged.

Following the audition the casting director may ask for a call back or be satisfied with the first audition and make their decision as to whom they will offer the job.

After a successful audition a fee needs to be negotiated. The agent on your behalf will negotiate this fee and with your approval accept or reject the offer.

Once a fee has been settled upon then the time, date and any requirements for the job are confirmed.

On completion of the job we as your agent will invoice the producers and handle the tax and supperannuation requirements before forwarding the payment to you.

How do I get started?

We like to meet all our potential talent to make sure they are suitable to be representing NDS.

We then need to have suitable professional photographs in hard copy and digital for the internet so we can start promoting you to casting directors.

Every 6 – 8 weeks NDS holds a photoshoot. A booking is made and a talent profile sheet detailing your measurements, interests and experience is completed. This information with your photographs is uploaded to our website and we are then able to start working for you.

Can I provide my own Photos?

Yes, as long as they are not copyright by another agent and if they are in keeping with the standard of our website and the image we wish to present. They must be professional photographs.

Can people get my information from the website?

No. The NDS search facility is powered by ecaster and has a complex security system your information is very safe.  Details are given to verified casting directors and guests who are looking for talent.

Do I need Training?

That depends on the type of work you wish to do.  It is always important for all performers to keep their skills up to date as it is a highly competitive market.

Do you provide training?
