The future of junior surfing was on show at Merewether today with the Jagged Reef Cadet Cup.
In the Under 14's Division, Anna Bay's Kurtis Herman led the local charge, with 'The Hermanator' winning his Round of 16 heat convincingly and marching through to the Jagged Reef Semi's that will hit the water tomorrow.
Herman's Bay Boardriders club mate Toby McGuire was unlucky to finish third in his heat and be eliminated from the event.
The Under 16's division of the Jagged Reef Cadet Cup stepped up in intensity another notch with the Merewether pair of Jake Sylvester and Ryan Callinan taking convincing wins in their Round of 32 heats today.
Callinan however bowed out later in the day, finishing 3rd in the Round of 16.
For Sylvester, the Round of 16 saw another solid preformance resulting in a clear win in his heat, putting him into tomorrows Jagged Reef Semi Final series.
Jagged Reef Cadet Cup competition tomorrow gets underway from 10am with the Semi Finals and the Jagged Reef final due to hit the water from 1.30pm.
